Thoughts on the Cuisinart Slow Cookers
If you are looking for a decent quality slow cooker for a very good price, Cuisinart slow cooker is a good choice for you. Of course, there are good features with these slow cookers, but there are some drawbacks as well.
The great thing about a Cuisinart and probably it is the biggest benefit is its price. You can find a pretty nice quality Cuisinart slow cooker at a very low price. You can compare this to some other brands on the market and you will find Cuisinart is a great buy. Many of their models have features included that you will find on higher priced slow cookers. I have had good experiences with Cuisinart that I had and the majority of my meals came out very good.
You will need to do some research as to what type of slow cooker you need before making a decision. Cuisinart has many different models and sizes to choose from including programmable ones. I have had good results with PSC-400 which is a 4 quart programmable slow cooker. Temperature control is pretty good compared to some other models and it looks fantastic with a brushed stainless steel finish.
The temperature settings vary amongst different types of slow cookers. Most have a range of temperature settings to meet the needs of various recipes. Some have just a couple of settings (low and high) and others include five settings that vary from high (two hours) to really slow cooking (ten hours or more). Some even have a warm setting in case your dish has finished cooking but the accompanying side dishes still need to be prepared or finish cooking. This setting is also very useful for those occasions when everyone isn’t ready to eat their meal just yet.
Not everything is perfect though, and there are some things about Cuisinart slow cookers that are not so great. First of all, you must realize that it is not a commercial grade quality and there are some things that are cheaply made on many of these. For example, the knobs could be a little more solid. Also, many of the cheaper cookers cook very hot. Anyone with any experience slow cooking knows that this is not good as you can overcook your food very easily.
Overall though, Cuisinart makes very good products for the person on a budget who wants something of decent quality. The Cuisinart PSC-400 that I mentioned is about $70, so it is a little more expensive but cooks fantastic with very good temperature control.
